In January 2017 I was invited to spend one month at british-mexican private collector David Mee´s home in Basel, Switzerland. He asked me to do two large format paintings for his home in Downtown Basel. The loft was designed by Herzog & De Meuron, and it has been one of the most inspiring experiences to live and work in this place. The goal was to paint something perfectly balanced completely inspired by Nature´s perfection. I had recently made a journey to Indonesia and Norway, so the idea of opposites was very fresh.
I chose to start with Summer. This painting represents Summer, a swiss lake with its light greens and vivid colors.

During this trip we visited Mt. Pilatus, Switzerland, and it is truly one of the most amazing landscapes I have ever seen.
Seeing this massive landscape gave me the perfect idea about how to represent Winter:

And these are the two finished pieces living in their new home 🙂
Special thanks to David and Margarita for sharing their beautiful home with me and for giving me the freedom to feel completely confortable and inspired by this amazing temporary studio.
